Things to Make with Lavender

There are so many things you can make at home with Lavender and that beautiful floral scent makes it so worth having anything lavender around the house.
I love harvesting Lavender, it sends a sense of calming to my soul. As soon as I cut it, I group it into small bundles and hang them to dry. I usually leave mine to hang until they are dry to the touch but not falling apart at the touch, for me that seemed to be 1-2 weeks.
Then, I clip the flowers off of all the stems and cover them to keep in the smell until I am ready to use them.
Here are some things I made with my lavender:
Lavender Body Scrub
-1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
-2 Cups Coarse Sugar (I like Turbinado Sugar)
-2-3 Tablespoons of Dried Lavender Flowers
-15-20 drop Essential Lavender Oil (optional for a strong scent)
I started by making sure the coconut oil is in liquid form. Mine was a little solid so I put it in the microwave for about 15 seconds to liquify it. Then I measured and added it to a bowl. Next, I added the sugar and then I ground up a bunch of dried lavender flowers in my fingers and into the bowl. It took a little while to do this way, but I loved the smell and the calming effect of doing it all myself…no rush!
Mix it all up and put it in air-tight jars and you are ready to go.
I know many people who add apple cider vinegar to their water, tea, and other food as a health regimen. Having a nice lavender taste to it can help take away from the bitterness of the vinegar and adds a little calming effect as well.
This was an easy process. Simply add dried lavender flowers to a jar and fill with apple cider vinegar. Close tight and place in a dark cool location for a few weeks. When done, sift the lavender out and save the newly infused vinegar for whatever you want.
